Wherever you are in life, I'm here to help.

Liz Gustafson, PhD

I am a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY29510) with nearly ten years of experience in helping people who are struggling with their emotions, including those stemming from traumatic pasts.

Before opening my practice, I spent two years taking calls and training operators at a suicide hotline. I went on to work with children in foster care, 9/11 first responders in NYC, people on a psychiatric inpatient unit, and individuals in many walks of life doing their best to manage emotional pain. I have worked in some of the top hospitals in NYC and LA, including New York Presbyterian/Weill-Cornell, Mount Sinai, and Kaiser Permanente.

My work is informed by psychological theory regarding the unconscious, the impact of childhood experiences on adulthood relationship patterns, emotion regulation, self-control, and neurobiology.

People of all sexualities, gender identities, races, sizes, and relationship structures are welcome in my practice.

I have experience helping with:

  • PTSD

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • identity confusion

  • Grief

  • Relationship problems

  • Emotional numbness

  • Anger

  • Dissociation

  • Eating disorders

  • Self-harm

  • Suicidal thoughts

Together we can craft a customized therapy that fits your individual needs.
